GDC COMPETITION COMPANY

Take your dancer to the next level with our Competitive Company! Company students are elite dancers dedicated to putting in the extra work to perform at their very best. In addition to our annual recital, Company dancers get extra opportunities to perform at regional and national dance competitions, local showcases and charitable events. Company dancers also attend dance conventions, workshops, master classes and professional performances. 

All current & prospective Company Dancers are REQUIRED to attend our annual Summer Intensive! Company dancers MUST enroll in their designated Company Rehearsal class(es) as well as required classes as outlined below, and have impeccable attendance. All classes for two weeks preceding any competition are MANDATORY!

PRODUCTION - A large group routine open to dancers in ALL Company levels, if the dancer will be attending Nationals. Production is in addition to each Company’s individual group routines.

ELITE COMPANY - Designed for advanced dancers who want to compete at an elite level and are enrolled in additional technique classes to enhance their skills. Dancers participate in 1-5 groups at the discretion of GDC Staff. Must have been on Company for 1 year & meet the following requirements:

• Enrolled in 3 total hours of Ballet classes per week,
  2 Acro or Acro Skills classes & Jazz Tech
  (1 Ballet class MUST be a recital class, the rest can be Ballet Tech OR PBT/Ballet Barre)

• Enrolled in Tap Tech, if participating in a Tap competition routine

• Apprentice 1 class per week

• Must attend Nationals

• Parent(s) must participate in 1 parent committee

• Routine styles may include:

  • Lyrical/Contemporary

  • Jazz/Musical Theater

  • Tap

  • Hip Hop

PREMIER COMPANY - Designed for dancers to be able to participate in an premier level competition group, preparing dancers to potentially advanced to elite status. Must meet the following requirements:

• Enrolled in 1 Jazz class, 1 Ballet or Ballet Technique class & 1 Acro Skills class

• Enrolled in Tap Tech, if participating in a Tap competition routine

• Recommended classes include additional Ballet Technique & Acro/Acro Skills class(es)

• Routine styles may include:

  • Jazz/Musical Theater

  • Tap

  • Hip Hop

REC COMPANY - Designed for dancers to be able to participate in a recreational competition group. Must meet the following requirements:

• Enrolled in 1 Jazz OR Hip Hop class, Acro Skills & Ballet highly recommended

• Routine styles may include:

  • Hip Hop

MINI COMPANY - Designed for dancers ages 6-8. Must meet the following requirements: 

• Enrolled in 1 Jazz, Tap or Combo class, Pre Acro highly recommended

• Routine styles may include:

  • Jazz/Musical Theater

  • Tap
